Brett Favre's Sister Arrested in Mississippi for Meth

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick family. And when you are a family member of a celebrity, the press will notice when you embarrass your kin. It’s a recipe as old as President Carter’s famous drunken brother Billy. Now it’s Brett Favre’s sister, Brandi, who is in the spotlight.

A meth lab raid in Diamond head at a “luxury condo” sent Ms. Favre to a local hospital for decontamination before she was booked with a $40,000 bond. There were four others arrested at the scene that were handled in a similar fashion.

Narcotics officers were tipped to the upscale location after a meth purchase. When they got to the condo, they immediately smelled a “cook” in progress and treated it as a serious toxic event, evacuating nearby units. Matt Karl, Director of the Hancock County Narcotics Task Force is quoted in a WLOX report, “we discovered the full lab in the bathroom; it was still cooking. I think we collected pretty close to ten grams of finished product, which, that's a lot of meth."

Afterward, neighbors admitted they had smelled something strange – perhaps they were too polite to say anything? If they had known the danger of fire or explosion, things might have come to a head sooner. There’s no telling just how long the meth lab was in operation before the bust.
Along with charges of methamphetamine manufacture, possession and dealing, the quartet also face a charge of generating hazardous waste. Ms. Favre has reportedly already made bail.

And so the saga of the Favre’s enters a new chapter, one that includes not only the “will he or won’t he retire” but Brandi as well. Reporters have already dug up a criminal past on Brandi that includes shoplifting and an unlawful use of a weapon. Although those events are more than ten years old, news is news when it comes to celebrities or those they love.
